Having a kind father like you is more than enough. I don't need to ask for more.
What I want to say is I feel very satisfied with what I have in my life. But a friend insisted that 'more than enough' here carries a negative meaning, as if I suggested that I don't need such a father.
Your friend is right. "More than enough" can have a negative meaning. e.g. "I had more than enough of you" means " I am fed up/frustrated/etc. with you."
Your sentence can be read as a positive one, of course. To avoid ambiguity however, it would be best to write it as, "Having a kind father like you is what I had always been looking forward to. To ask for more would be superfluous."
