As I understand it, it's an American football term, and in this example it means 'allow himself to be tackled'.

Well, the joke is that Ross was dreaming he had his baby in his hands and he threw it upfield.

Chandler said he was crazy for throwing his baby, and Joey implied that it was better than letting himself get tackled, and the baby taken away - remember, this is just a dream, not the real thing!!
