May I know what the above expression means ?
Thanks in advance
Is this a line from Friends?
As I understand it, it's an American football term, and in this example it means 'allow himself to be tackled'.Ross : Right, but, it is just me and the baby, so I'm thinkin' they can take us. And so I uh, hah-hah, I just heave it down field.
Chandler : What are you crazy? That's a baby!
Joey : He should take the sack?
If it's not from Friends, then I may be wrong.
Yes, it is from Friends, and I can't make head or tail of the context. "Allow oneself to be tackled " ?
I only know ' Hit the sack ', that means going to bed. :)
Well, the joke is that Ross was dreaming he had his baby in his hands and he threw it upfield.
Chandler said he was crazy for throwing his baby, and Joey implied that it was better than letting himself get tackled, and the baby taken away - remember, this is just a dream, not the real thing!!
Thanks :)
