| I have one question to ask. No.1 Both "objective" and "object" can mean "aim". Then what's the difference between the two? Are they interchangeable in the following sentence: After you have set your objective you must decide on the concrete measures. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance. Jiang |

objective: something aimed at. (abstraction) object: a thing aimed at. (concrete) The noun 'objective' refers to an abstraction, whereas the noun 'object' refers to a thing. |

| Thank you very much for your explanation. However, I still feel confused. The following sentences are from my dictionaries (my understanding of the words are in brackets). Could you please explain them? 1. His primary object was to gatin publitity. (abstraction) 2. The object of the game is to score 100 points. ( If we consider points is what number can show then it is concrete) 3. The customer will benefit most, and that after all is the object of the exercise. (abstract) 4. The main object of this policy is to reduce unemploument. (abstraction) Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance. Jiang Have a nice weekend. Quote:

| 'object' in 1. through 4. is short for objective. |

| It's not synonymous with "object of attention". It just appears that way. |
