| Welcome. ![]() according to____, adverb + prepositional phrase, as stated by someone/something else, not the speaker. For example, According to Max, Ali is not sick. According to Sam, Ali is sick. *According to me, Ali is sick. (ungrammatical) Exception: syntactic replacement Max: Someone said that Ali is sick, but he's not. Sam: He is sick! Max: According to who? Sam: According to me, that's who! |
