I'm not familiar with Gullah. I only know that it's spoken on islands off the southern coast of the U.S.

I think this is worth considering and speaking about as a motivational factor. I think it's good to develop an awareness of one's purpose in such a situation as this. This is not to say that they wouldn't be aware of their purpose now.
