the sky is the limit
Dear teachers,
Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
Dr. Mercer, the head doctor, he couldn’t be more charming. Knows Bob Hawthorne,…and as soon as I told him, I know Bob, the sky was the limit. (J. O. Hara, “Assembly”)
“And you don’t want Grieb know that you’re interested in it?”
“No, aside from that, the sky’s the limit. You can work any scheme on him you want to.” (F. S. Gardner, “The Case of Dangerous Dowager”)
the sky is the limit = there is no limit
