Dear all,

What is the meaning of "visibility" in:

"She and the rest of her team have a high visibility in Australia."

They were talking about a rbike rider and her mate riders.

Does "visibility" here mean "popularity"??????

I'm afraid it probably does. (The outside chance is that, as bike riders, they're wearing 'visibility jackets'.)

PS Not just (and not necessarily) popularity. They're just seen a lot in media events - which could, of course, lead to - or result from - popularity.

You can be visible and not popular. Far too many "celebrities" these days are known, but not for any good reason. (Think: reality TV)
