dropout or loser

I am not sure if I can use a dropout or a loser in the following sentence.

Seven singers should compete on the tv show and one who receives the lowest votes from the audience is kicked out of the competition. In such case, the one who gets the lowest score/or votes can be called dropout or loser? If not ,what is the proper way to call them?

I wouldn't use drop-out because they did not choose to leave.

I have heard them referred to as the "bootee," because they got booted off of the show. It seems as good a word as any. Nicer than "loser."

(1) I just wanted to remind you that one of the biggest insults in this

country is to call someone a "loser." I'm talking about life in general

--not those TV shows, in particular.

(2) If you call an American a loser, s/he will "hate" you forever.

A "loser" is considered a total failure: no job (or maybe a low-paying

job), maybe almost no friends, maybe no family (or his family wants

nothing to do with him/her), etc. I think that you get the idea. In other

words, you are telling him/her: "You are pathetic."

There's probably an equivalent word in your language, isn't there?

I imagine that all languages have a similar insult.
