    Default Verbal tense.

    Hello,

Would you please help me with this sentences?

"She has decided she ..........................(study) Economics at University next year".

Which verbal tense would you choose. I would use a "be going to" structure, what do you think?

    Thank you for your help.

"She has decided she is going to study Economics at University next year".
"She has decided she will study Economics at University next year"
    .

Both of those are fine. Less likely, but possible, are:

"She has decided she is studying Economics at University next year".
"She has decided she will be studying Economics at University next year".

Thank you for your quick answer.

As you may imagine, this sentences is taken from a book in which a unique solution is to be accepted as good, hence my hesitation.

I have the impression that I will be always caught in fault.

    Thanks again.

The problem is not with you; it is with the writers of exercises like that. They have in mind one answer, which is indeed often quite likely, but ignore the fact that other answers are possible. In one sentence it is often impossible to give enough context to ensure that all other answers are completely unacceptable.
