Adjective vs Adverb
While completing some exercisers I've got a mistake and I didn't know why I was wrong. The specific exercise in Quiz 165
Q31 - She works .....
hard
hardly
Q32 - She drives .....
quick
quickly
So why is the answer of Q31 hard and on Q32 quickly? I mean, is there any difference among those two adverbs or verbs?
Contacto Costa Rica student.

Re: Adjective vs Adverb
"Hard" is an adjective and an adverb. "Hardly" is a different word and changes the meaning of the sentence completely.
"She works hard" means she puts a lot of effort into her work.
"She hardly works" means that she barely works, she works almost not at all.
One of the most annoying of co-workers is the guy who comes to your office and says "Hey Dave, are you working hard or hardly working?"

Adverbs are usually formed with the suffix "_ly", but a few like "late" and "hard" take the same form as adjective and adverb.
