1.If you walked on the streets in Saint Petersburg

2.If you walked the streets of Saint Petersburg

Both are grammatically correct however the nuance is a little different, and in my view the sentence is unfinished as it begins with "if " but has no following statement.(consequence or happening )

eg:1. If you walked on the streets in St. Petersburg you might see that we have beautiful architecture.

2.If you walked the streets of St Petersburg at night you might get arrested!

Number 2 " walking the streets" suggests walking with no purpose, or an illegal one.

It's only a slight difference, and for beginners of English my answer would also be that they are the same, however for intermediate and up its interesting for you to begin to learn nuance.

Arzgol, A better title would have been If you walked on the streets in Saint Petersburg.

This is the third time I have asked you to give more meaningful thread titles.

    Am I wasting my time?

Is there a difference between saying "the streets OF St. Petersburg" and "the streets IN St. Petersburg"?
    Thanks!
