using simple present or past tense?
Dear teachers,
A lot of times, 'tense' in English is the most confusing part for me to deal with. For example, if someone says "today, we're talking about the advantages of having a native speaker vs. a non-native speaker to help you learn your English, someone who speaks(?) the language from the time they were born, or someone who learned(?) the language". Are there any tense mistakes in this sentence?
Thank you!

Re: using simple present or past tense?
Today, we're talking about the advantages of having a native speaker vs over/as gainst a non-native speaker to help you learn your English, i.e./that is, someone who speaks has spoken the language from the time they were born, or someone who has learned the language.

Re: using simple present or past tense?
Thank you very much, fivejedjon. I'll have to look it up in dictionary to compare the different usage of over, versus, against and as against, though. That's my homework today! Thanks again!
