Dear teachers,

Would you be kind tell me your opinion concerning my choice of the interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?

Personally, of course, I think this new thing miles better than “The Sobbing Turtle” which was a nice little affair, but nothing to make a song about.

miles better = much better, far better

nothing to make a song about = nothing special, nothing out of the way, nothing to speak of

Yes. However, I would say "nothing to make a song and dance about" rather than just "make a song about". I think that's the more common expression. It also means "to make a big fuss about..." as well as it being "something special".
