Hello everyone,
Does anybody here knows why for the first and the third letter of ( BrE & AmE )we use capital letters and not for the middle letter?would you please tell me what is the rule for it?
Thanks in advance,![]()
We capitalise the first letter of the words only.![]()
Thanks tdol, but why for the abbreviation of BrE & AmE we capitalise the third letter .I mean ( E )?
Thanks again,![]()
"E" stands for a word, English.
BrE = British English
AmE = American English
Capitalize the first letter of [i]each word[i], right?
Why isn't it, Br Eng or Am Eng, two parts? The reason, British English and American English are phrases.
We capitalise the first and the third letter because it is an abbreviation of the following:
- British English (BrE)
- American English (AmE)
I think (correct me if I am wrong, as I am also a learner of English) we capitalise English as it is the name of a language and languages always start with capital. This is why the abbreviations are the way they are.
Bye, Jacqueline
PS: Hi everyone, I am new here! Nice to meet you :)
