Default ing pronounciation

My son is in the first grade and is learning phonics are in south Alabama. His teacher is teaching them to pronounce the "g" in "ing", such as "rin-gah" and "brin-gah" instead of "ring" and "bring". I don't know enough about English pronounciation to explain to the teacher why this is wrong (not wron-gah) because I haven't had an English class in twenty odd years and I am at a complete loss. Can you help me? Thank you for your time, Lisa Campbell

Default Re: ing pronounciation

To clarify:

Rin-gah or whatever since English has a very poor ability to explain pronunciation is a non-nasal.

And I think that you shouldn't worry, it's a regional thing. And it doesn't really matter how you pronounce. Did you know that it's ... http://www.yourdictionary.com/library/mispron.html etc.? Yes, the teacher is wrong but the kid will get over his arguments.
