Default Past Simple or Present Perfect

    Hi,

'I never ever felt like this before.'

Could it be: 'I have never felt like this before.'

The Present Perfect is more suitable in this example, isn't it?

    Thanks,
    Joe

I would use present perfect, yes.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Thanks, and what's the difference between 'I have never' and 'I have never ever'?

The "ever" is redundant, but adds emphasis. It can sound a bit child-like, so be careful.

OK. By the way, it's from one song whose lyrics are written by native English speaker(s).
