May I ask you if is it polite or possible to use the word 'pretty' in formal speech? I mean, in the meaning 'quite/rather' (as an adverb).
E.g.: He feels pretty well.
The line is pretty long.
Because nowadays this word is used widely in our everyday life. So, would it be the same with formal speech?

You don't say what you mean by "formal speech" but I would say it entirely depends on who you're speaking to and the context of the conversation.
