I've been struggling with these sentences. I'm not sure how to properly, grammatically say them. Could you please help me?

1 You need to force him in the direction opposite to his shooting hand. (basketball)
You need to force him in the opposite direction of his shooting hand. (basketball)

2 Turn the knob in the opposite direction of the way you usually do.

3 I was going in the opposite direction of the one we were supposed to go.
3 I was going in the direction opposite to the one we were supposed to go.

4 I walked in the totally opposite direction of/from/to the bus stop.
4 I walked in the direction opposite of/from/to the bus stop.
