    Default alert, quick-witted, smart

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the usage of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?

He was alert enough to comprehend the importance of the occasion.

He was quick-witted: it did not take him long to discover their ironical attitude.

He was quick-witted enough to see the danger and change the subject.

He is pretty smart and will get his promotion.

He was considered to be smart enough to win the case.
