Please correct the passage where you need corection.

I was trying to inform that I was not attending your daughter’s wedding ceremony but your cell phone was being switched off as usual. For the next day I had informed to your wife the reason why I was not attending the function. I was badly sick and even not going to the office. I apologies to your wife because you were not at home.

I was trying to inform you that I wouldn't attend your daughter’s wedding ceremony but your cell phone was switched off as usual. The next day I informed your wife about the reason why I couldn't / attend the function. I was badly sick and couldn't even go to the office. I apologised to your wife because you were not at home.

Just the last sentence is vague to me.
