    Default A matter to be taken very seriously

    Please, check if the following passage is grammatically correct. Thanks!

    Here we should also mention that, on the eve of the war against Iraq in 2003, there was a release of some reports which revealed the smuggling of the Iraqi chemical and biological weapons to Syria. The weapons were carried on trucks, installed with mobile labs. The purpose in that was, of course, to evade the watchful eyes of UN inspectors. If there is any truth in that news, then Israel should take very seriously the fate of the Iraqi chemical and biological weapons existing on Syrian soil, once the regime in this country collapses.

    I would say '...the purpose of that...'

    And change '...in this country' to '...in that country', or '...there'.

    I would also change "there was a release of some reports" to "some reports were released".

    @Topic starter

    Sir,I can clearly see your motive behind this post.

    @Respected mods!

    Why don't you people take action against such people whose sole aim is not to learn but to corrupt the minds of the people? These kind of people are using the forums to disseminate political propaganda.

    May I say that I, for one, take no notice of the content of most posts. I limit myself to looking at the grammatical correctness of the posts. I do not consider that the posts are necessarily the personal opinions of a poster. They could be an attempt at a translation or a piece of writing they have been requested to write.

    If it helps to make the previous poster more comfortable, perhaps the OP could state why they have written this particular piece. Of course, they are under no obligation to do so.

    This has been brought up before and explained- Motico deals with texts about current afffairs for their language content- they are posted here for the purpose of looking at the language and not to discuss the contents.
    Motico, if you used the Quote feature to put them into a box, it might make this clearer.

    aachu: There is no reason to spark unnecessary feuds. Don't let your imagination mislead you. There is no political propaganda in my passage (which is "an attempt at translation" as the distinguished Key Member emsr2d2 has correctly put it). I'm interested in the language and have no intention of discussing the contexts.

    Tdol: Thank you for your remark. I'll try to follow your advice from now on.
