    Default The current struggle

Please, check if the following passage is grammatically correct. Thanks!

**This is a translated passage. It is neither intended to express a political opinion nor start a political discussion. I'm just interested in the language. **

A process, which is probably to bring down the … regime, began in … three and a half months ago. The process is characterized by increasing popular demonstrations. It has been responded by a harsh crackdown from the government and has so far claimed the lives of 1500 civilians, largely unarmed, whose only "sin" had been their desire to see the government replaced as well as have their rights respected and their urgent needs met by the state. In contrast to the previous round in 1982, which ended up with a massacre in … amid a media blackout, the current struggle has soon found its way into the media with scenes of atrocities of slain, wounded and tortured people shocking anyone who has a little bit of conscience. The brutality and cruelty of the … security forces have unleashed a sectarian tension which had been contained for decades.

    1. "It has been responded to by..." is ugly, I feel. I would write, "the response has been..."
2.Either: "The current struggle soon found its way ..."
or: "The current struggle has quickly found its way ...".
