    Default care more about

When we use ''more'', we should compare two things. For example: ''He cares more about his cat than his own wife!''
But, if I say'' Since my parents cared more about education, they spent more money on education than recration.'' in this case, is my sentence still correct?

Thank you so much for your reply.

It's possible. It's a slightly clumsy way of saying, "Since my parents cared more about education than recreation, they spent more money on education (than on recreation)".
