Default John Boehner? How to pronounce?

    Hi there

Just saw this politician's name, which I thought was quite weird. As I read it as yeah well "boner". But I guess you do not call him that, so how is it pronounced.

And is oe not generally pronounced as o?

Default Re: John Boehner? How to pronounce?

It's "BAY-ner" (Bay rhymes with day).

Peoples' names tend to have all kinds of origins and do not always follow English "rules" for pronunciation. Even people with the same name may pronounce it differently.
