    Default live

    Hi,

What does the live mean in this sentence?

I live in dread of bumping into her in the street.

    Does it mean "am"?

    Thanks a lot

It means "I am constantly in dread..."

Yes, in the sense of "be = exist = live".
But no, in the sense that "living in dread" of something sounds more dramatic and all-pervasive than "being in dread", and is also more idiomatic.
