Hi
Could you please help me solve this dilemma I have. What is the difference between these sentences:
I was supposed to have arrived on the 14th of October.
I was supposed to arrive on the 14th of October.
I found the first sentence in a grammar book and I wonder if it has the same meaning as the second sentence that I made up.
Thank you very much for your answer.

Welcome to the forum, Jurohkl.
The second sentence should read 'I was supposed to arrive . . . .'
Please note that I was supposed to have arrived would have been a better title for your thread.

Yes, I am sorry for the mistake. But, is there any difference in the meaning of these two sentences or both of them could be used?
I was supposed to have arrivedonby the 14th of October. The obligation was to arrive no later than the 14th. It would have been acceptable to arrive before that date.
I was supposed to arrive on the 14th of October. No earlier, no later.
