    Default Where to put Nicknames?

Will you, please, help me with the following thing:

    1) George Smith T(t)he Black

    2) George T(t)he Black Smith

The Black is a nickname of a famous person. Where do you usually put it: before or after a surname? Does a nickname require any quotes?

    Many thanks

We usually see nicknames in quotation marks between the first and last names.
William "Willie the Actor" Sutton (bank robber.)
Luis Inácio "Lula" da Silva (ex-president of Brazil)
