Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
Berbatov slams a beautifully purposive goal.
purposive = premeditated, considered
V.
Interesting word that I had never seen. I would have used "purposeful."
I'd not seen it either.
It's not an adjective I'd use to describe a goal in a football match, and 'slams a goal' is not idiomatic, either. Is this your own sentence, vil, or is it the work of some sports reporter desperate to be different?

Hi Rover KE,
Fortunately I’m not the maker of this unfortunate sport comment. It was found that your second speculation is right.
Here is another pearl of the sports reporter in question.
Thomson gathers the ball, bamboozles the defense and passes to Roger who makes no mistake.
Would you tell me whether it is understandable or not?
Thank you for your kindness.
V.
That is just fine.Thomson gathers the ball, bamboozles the defence (BE spelling) and passes to Roger who makes no mistake.
