Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Berbatov slams a beautifully purposive goal.

purposive = premeditated, considered

Interesting word that I had never seen. I would have used "purposeful."

I'd not seen it either.

It's not an adjective I'd use to describe a goal in a football match, and 'slams a goal' is not idiomatic, either. Is this your own sentence, vil, or is it the work of some sports reporter desperate to be different?
