Hello, again I want which sentence is correct grammatically?
Thanks
Did Stanley read about that event before?
Where did Stanley read about that man?
What happened to that man?
Has Stanley read about that man in internet?
When did Stanley last see that man?
Where was he struck by lightning?
Was he injured by the electric shock?
What do have to do to stay safe when we are struck by lightning?
Bamdad, this post appeared less than two hours after I suggested in another of your threads: A better title for your thread would have been 'Are these sentences correct?. Please use the title to give us an idea of what you are asking about.1. I am not sure whether we can really be 'injured' by an electric shock. I think 'harmed' might be better. Perhaps others have better suggestions.
2. This is grammatically correct, but I think that it's a bit late to think about this after we have been struck.
Where was he struck by lightning? This is ambiguous. Do you want to know what his location was when he was struck by lightning (in London, in a field, on the roof of his house etc) or do you want to know which part of his body was struck by lightning (head, feet, hands etc)?
I want to make the first one "Had Stanley read" not "Did Stanely read" -- but I'm not sure that "Did" is wrong.
What do you all feel?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
