'Reverting'?

Hi all,
Would anyone please tell me what Reverting means in the following context?

According to the latest info received from Nichia the shipment (e.t.d. Kobe) is scheduled approx. 16.7.2011. This means we expect to receive copy docs from Nichia and forwarder approx. next week. Reverting.

I don't really know. I did read just yesterday that some people have taken to using "revert" to mean "reply" when talking about email and the like. Apparently it spread out of India among English speakers there. I find it revolting.
