    Default a second thought

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Influenced by a second thought she readily obeyed. (Th. Hardy, “Tess of the d’Urbervilles”)

a second thought = a further consideration, over thinking, re-consider of a decision
