    Default had passed

    For example:

Today is Jan 3, Jo's mum died on Jan1.
To make a sentence, I choose not to mention the date , can I say,

    1. Jo's mum had passed away.
    2. Jo's mum has passed away.
    3. Jo's mum passed away.

To make a sentence, I choose to mention the date , can I say,
    1. Jo's mum had passed away on Jan1.
    2. Jo's mum has passed away on Jan1. .
    3. Jo's mum passed away on Jan1.

    Thanks.

All can be correct, depending on context.

I don't like that one very much. We don't normally use a present perfect when a past time is specified, though you will hear it. In speech we often start a sentence, and then add something that we hadn't intended to say when we started.
