old english names

Hi All,

I ran across this old english names site and noticed a number of names there that I have never heard of. I know names come and go with popularity and whatever so I was wondering just how old should a name be to be declare "old English" . Does "old English" have a specific date range ?

Are we talking about old English names or Old English names? Not even that website makes it clear whether they are listing names which were popular during the time when what we now call Old English was spoken, or whether the names are simply English and old.
When they say, "Some of these names have been in use for centuries" this implies that some others have not - which tends to indicate that they are not names in use in mediaeval England.

The author clearly confuses old and Old. Many of the names they give are not even of Germanic origin, let alone Old English, but they send the reader to sites about Old English. The meanings of the names that they give are very suspicious too.
