Default It is so long since...

The Shadow: As it is so long since I heard your voice, I would like to give you an opportunity of speaking.
(Human, All Too Human; The Wanderer and His Shadow; translated by R.J. Hollingdale)

Is it correct to use "It is so long since..."?

    Thanks.
