Because one man admits defeat, it doesn’t mean that everybody else does.
The situation admits of no delay.
His words admit of no other meaning.
admit = to tolerate, permit, allow
The manager admitted him to the theater.
She was admitted to the university.
States are admitted to membership in the United Nations by decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council
admit = to allow entry, receive
The accused admitted his quilt to the police.
She admitted to her complicity in the crime.
The employee admitted stealing the money.
The clerk admitted to the police that he had taken the jewels.
The boy admitted to stealing the apples.
You will do me the justice to admit that.
