Sometimes I would like to tell my friends about some things happened in the past.
For example:
Doctors who made/performed surgery for/on my father.
They have or had taken care of my father.
Simple past: They took care (OR have taken care) of my father.
The past perfect can be used in several ways. In your example, using "had taken", one might expect to hear/read another more recent past action in simple past form such as: They had taken care of my father before they examined my mother (in this usage the present perfect, 'have examined' cannot be used) . I suggest you review the several uses of past perfect in your text or on the web.
I'm so confused which one of the two words I have to choose. Also, I'm not sure about taken.
So, which one is correct and give me a small guide and explanation.
