    Cool cold and rain

    Hello!

Is "the" necessary in this sentence, please? :

"I'm fed up with (the) rain and cold!".

    Thank you

Yes, you need the 'the' because you are not talking about rain in general but indicating the current weather.

You could also say 'this rain' - people will often say this when talking about a rainy summer and you're more likely to hear 'I'm fed up with this rain' although there is nothing wrong with 'I'm fed up with the rain"

However, if it has been raining for days or weeks, or the weather over a long period of time has consisted mostly of rain, then we might say "I am so fed up of rain!"

    Cool Re: cold and rain

    Thank you.

Can we use the prepositions "with" and 'of" with "to be fed up" interchangeably?

    Cheers
    Will

    I wouldn't use "of".

I'd use both (not at the same time!)
