Is this correct usage?

Hi ,

In one of mails after my accent training completion, I wrote like this to my trainer. I request you to please correct this one.

"I am not able to do what I could do because of my health reasons".

I felt sick during my accent training and didn't perform well at a public speaking in front all in training room. This I reported to my trainer who wasn't at that point of time.

That works. It would probably be a little more natural in English to say ..."because of health-related reasons..." but, still, that works. I understand.

If you were explaining the situation afterwards, I don't think "I am" is appropriate. I would say:

"I wanted to let you know that I was unable to perform at my best during the public speaking session because I did not feel well."
