    Default past tense before gerund

Is the grammar in this sentence correct? (specifically, the past tense before a gerund)

Anne has completed fulfilling her role as administrator.

There is nothing wrong with a past tense before a gerund, but the sentence you have there is odd. You could manage with either fulfilled or completed - you don't need both.

Agreed. But I don't think you can't say 'completed her role' though.
It's either 'fulfilled her role' or 'completed her job/task',.
