Default work for us to do / for us doing

There is plenty of work for us shovelling snow.

This sentence comes from Quirk's Grammar. Can we use 'to shovel' instead of 'shovelling'?

    Thank you in advance.

It would be understood, but wouldn't sound natural. If you want to use 'to', you could say 'plenty of work for us to do, shovelling snow'.
