Default set something right = put something right

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

"Keep where you are," the guard called to the voice in the mist, "because, if I should make a mistake, it could never be set right in your lifetime.

Will you see if can put this bicycle right for me?

When Soams said: "Leave it to me," he meant it, of course; but it was really very trying than whenever anything went wrong, he and not somebody else, had to set it right! (J. Galsworthy, " The Silver Spoon")

"I've been in the wrong too," I said "but I feel now that everything can be put right." (*I. Murdock, "The Black Prince")

set something right = put something right = correct something= repair something= make good something
