    Default home telephone?

I'm looking for a phrase which means 'home telephone' or something like that. A phone which you can have installed in your house and which isn't portable. What is its name?

In the UK we call them 'landlines'.

"Landline" is used here, too. But it is also understood what someone's home phone is. For instance, in my mobile phone I can store in a "contact" information for a person's work, mobile and home phones.

It is possible for a 'home phone number' to be the same number as one's cell phone number. The term 'landline' is understood to mean a telephone number that is serviced by a non-satellite provider.

If I asked for someone's home phone and they might tell me they only have a "cell phone" or "mobile phone."

In other words, if one did not have a landline, one would have to explain that to someone who asked for their home phone.

"Can I have your home phone?"

"I don't have a home phone, only my mobile."
