1) They swam naked in the pond.
2) Being naked, they swam in the pond.
do the two sentences above express the same meaning? and what is the difference between the two sentences? i am confused. please explain grammatically.
Thank you.
ATTENTION: NOT A TEACHER
(1) I believe that your first sentence is fine:
(a) They swam in the pond without any clothes. (They decided to go swimming, and they decided not to wear bathing suits in the water.)
(2) I do not believe that you would want to say the second sentence.
(a) That sentence seems to say:
Since/because they were already naked, they also decided to go swimming in the pond.
