    Default as well as

    Dear teachers,

In the sentence below, "as well as a few entirely new ones" I don't quite understand what the author means by it. Could you help me understand? Thank you

"Publishers have to confront many of the problems that have afflicted other media industries that have gone digital, as well as a few entirely new ones."

Some problems that the other media industries are dealing with,
    and
Some problems that are entirely new.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

"as well as" = "and/in addition to/and also"
