Hi, I would like to ask that, when using "research" in academic context, is it allowed to use "researches"?
One of my teachers insisted that "research" is uncountable, though when I google it, lots of people use "researches."
THANKS~
Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) gives 350 examples of 'researches'. It is true that some of these are third person verb forms, but most are noun plurals.
Thanks!!
You do come across the plural sometimes. However, some people actively dislike it, so it might be advisable to play safe and use it uncountably. I do.![]()
