Default Writing Dates

Can you help me writing dates, please?

What is the formal form to write them?

e.g. Tuesday, 4th October 2005
or Tuesday, 4th of October 2005

Thank you.

Default Re: Writing Dates

They're both OK, but I suppose using 'of' might be regarded as a little more formal.
