(1) I think that "I outed my creative side" means something like "I decided not to

hide my creative side."

(a) A male might be hesitant to be known as "creative," for in some cultures a

"creative" male might be considered feminine or even gay.

(2) In fact, here in the United States the verb "to out" is often -- not always --

used to mean "to expose" someone as gay. The American media have agreed not to

out gay motion picture stars. But sometimes he may be outed by someone

who is angry with him. With the Internet and social media (of which I know no thing!),

it is impossible to keep certain secrets.

(3) Sometimes "to out" is not so serious. For example, a 16-year-old boy may really

like the pop music of the 1960's, but he doesn't want his friends to know because they

would tease him. I guess young people like something called rap music. So if a 16-

year-old dude were outed as a fan of "Angel Baby" (my favorite song of the 1960's),

his friends might they he was weird!

"To out" means the same in just about every context I can think of - "to reveal". It can also be used in the passive "to be outed".
