    Default takeaway 2

What's the meaning of "takeaway" in the following in red? And what does the sentence mean?

Fighting to be sure that others understand exactly who I am and what I'm truly capable of---that is my truth; that is my story.
You may have noticed that my story is about my elementary school principal basically calling me a loser. Yet why isn't that the takeaway of the story?
We've been taught our whole lives to hide our failures.....

    Thank you.

The take-away is the main point of something, like a lesson or presentation, to learn and remember. An example of the take away is when your boss gives a 20 minute lecture but at the end says "so, basically just remember if you are late you are fired."

His school principal calls him a loser. The author doesn't like it. He wants the principal to know that he (the author) is not someone to push around.
I'd like to see the rest of this text.

    Thank you for the help.

Of course, contrary to the principal's expectation, the author ended up as a winner.
