Hi. I'm watching Sex and the city 101.
It's Miranda's birthday, and naration goes like this.


(Sing happy birthday, and blows the candle off from a cake)
Another thirty-something birthday with a group of unmarried female friends.
We would all have preferred a celebratory conference call.
(Naration ends, and they start talking about men.)


I don't get the conference call part.
Does it mean they're embarrassed to have a real party face to face, so they would have preferred a phone call?
That's the best I can interprat, but in the situation they're so much enjoying their company. I'm sure they're best friends and they like to be together.

So confusing! Please help! Thanks a lot!
