Idiom doubt HI,
Is the following sentence correct?
Another global recession on the cards
What is the meaning of "on the cards"?

Re: Idiom doubt It is not a sentence because there is no verb in it. But it could be said or written anyway and it would be correct in some situations. You can easily google "on the cards".

Teacher Re: Idiom doubt In AmE it is "in the cards." It means that something will very likely happen.

Another global recession is in the cards.
Now the meaning of this sentence is predicting another global recession.
